For many people a brand is simply a logo, a visual construction which conveys through the use of type and symbols a 'feeling' about the business or service it represents. Brand however is so much more complex than simply a creating new logo, a companies brand is fundamentally its unique ethos, which is then creatively disseminated through all it's communication channels and points of contact, be it web, print, packaging, clothing, signage, face to face, social media etc etc.
In the past brands just needed to present a consistent look and message, today brands need to go further by telling their story, so that customers will warm to them, building brand loyalty not through corporate consistency but by using emotion, humour and humanity to engage with their core audience to stimulate an emotional response, which in turn builds loyalty because the customer cares, and even loves the brand.
